Troubleshooting & FAQ
Quick answers to the most common questions - stale data, installing Allot as an app, sign-in trouble, missing transactions, and how to reach us.
My data looks stale or out of date
Allot refreshes as you use it, but a tab left open in the background can hold an old view. Pull down to refresh (on mobile), or reload the page. Reopening the app also pulls the latest.
Install Allot as an app (Add to Home Screen)
Allot is a progressive web app, so you can install it like a native app for a full-screen experience and notifications.
On iPhone / iPad (Safari)
- Open allot-app.com in Safari.
- Tap the Share icon (the square with an up arrow).
- Choose Add to Home Screen, then Add.
- Open Allot from the new Home Screen icon.
On Android (Chrome)
- Open allot-app.com in Chrome.
- Tap the ⋮ menu, then Install app (or Add to Home screen).
I can't sign in
- Wrong password - use Forgot password on the sign-in page to reset it by email.
- Passkey - if you added one, tap 🔑 Sign in with a passkey and approve with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device PIN - no password needed.
- You signed up with Google - use Continue with Google rather than an email and password. You can add a password later in Settings › Account › Security.
- 2FA code - if two-factor is on, enter the current 6-digit code from your authenticator app. Lost the device? Contact support.
- Session expired - for a finance app we time sessions out; just sign in again.
Transactions are missing
- Check Pending review - imports wait there until you approve them. Look for the {N} to review banner.
- Confirm you're looking at the right account and date range in the register.
- If you connected a bank, remember Allot pulls at link time - recent charges may still be on the way. Add them by hand or re-link to pull again. See Connecting your bank.
- Check that the transaction wasn't accidentally deleted - if so, undo is available right after, or re-add it.
Frequently asked
Does Allot see my bank password?
No. Bank connections go through Plaid, which handles your credentials - Allot never receives or stores them.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Settings › Data gives you Full data (JSON) for a complete backup and Transactions (CSV) for Excel, Numbers, or another budgeting app.
How do I cancel or change my plan?
Open Settings › Sharing on the web (or More › Membership in the app) to upgrade, cancel, or resume at any time. Cancelling stops future renewals - you keep full access until the end of the period you've paid for, and you can resume before then if you change your mind.
Can two people share a budget?
Yes, on Pro - one owner plus one collaborator. See Household & sharing.
Why is a category red?
It's overspent - you spent more than you assigned. See Covering overspending.
Contact support
Still stuck? Open the Supportsection in the app to start a conversation with our team - you'll get replies right in the app. You can also email support@allot-app.com.
When you open a ticket you can optionally tick Let support see my data (read-only)so we can look at what you're seeing. The grant is strictly view-only, expires automatically after 7 days, and you can revoke it from the ticket at any time. Without it, support can't see your budget.
