Connecting your bank (Plaid)
Link a bank or card through Plaid so your balances and transactions flow into Allot instead of being typed by hand.
Link an account
- Open the Accounts tab.
- At the top of the page, tap π¦ Link a bank with Plaid.
- Plaid's secure window opens. Search for your bank, choose it, and sign in with your bank credentials. Allot never sees or stores your bank username or password - Plaid handles that.
- Pick which accounts to connect and confirm. Allot creates one account for each linked account.
- You'll see Linked N account(s) β, and Allot immediately pulls in your recent transactions.
What syncs
- Balances are read when you first link the account and used to set its starting balance.
- Transactions come in through Plaid. Posted transactions arrive marked β Cleared; transactions still pending at your bank arrive Uncleared and flip to cleared once they post.
- Allot pulls new transactions incrementally, so you only ever get what's new since the last pull.
How often it syncs
Allot pulls your transactions when you link the account. To bring in the latest activity afterward, you can re-run the link, and you can always add or edit transactions by hand in the meantime. Your day-to-day balance in Allot stays accurate because every transaction you log - imported or manual - updates it.
Account types
When you link or add an account, Allot sorts it into the right place:
- Assets - Checking, Savings, Cash, Investment, Other asset. These group under Cash on Hand and Investments.
- Liabilities - Credit card, Loan, Other liability. These group under Credit and Loans, and their balance shows as the amount you owe.
The top of the Accounts tab totals your Assets, Liabilities, and Net worth.
Troubleshooting
My bank won't connect
If the link window won't open, wait a moment and tap π¦ Link a bank with Plaidagain - the secure script sometimes needs a second to load. If your specific bank isn't available yet, add the account manually with + New account and enter transactions or import them from email in the meantime.
New transactions aren't showing up
Because Allot pulls at link time, brand-new charges may not appear until the next pull. In the meantime they usually arrive via email or Siri import, or you can add them yourself from the Spending tab. To force a fresh pull from the bank, re-link the account.
A linked account looks wrong or needs re-authenticating
Banks occasionally require you to re-confirm access. If a linked account stops receiving new transactions, link it again from Accounts βΊ π¦ Link a bank with Plaid to refresh the connection. If the balance drifted, use β Reconcileon that account to snap it back to your bank's figure - see Reconciling an account.
I want to stop importing to an account
On the account's row you can tap β Freeze to divert automatic imports into your review queue instead of posting them directly. Unfreeze at any time.
