Appearance & settings

Settings is where you set your theme, secure your account with a password and two-factor authentication, and manage your budget. Here's a tour of the essentials.

Find Settings

Open Settings (in the sidebar, or under More on mobile). The page is titled Preferences & admin and is split into tabs: General, Budget, Account, Sharing, and Data.

Theme: System, Light, or Dark

1. Open the General tab.
2. In Appearance, choose 🖥️ System, ☀️ Light, or 🌙 Dark.

Systemfollows your device automatically and flips when your device does. Your choice applies instantly and is remembered on this browser. There's also a Flat colors toggle that drops the glow and pulse effects for a plainer look.

Change your password

1. Open the Account tab and find Security.
2. Under Password, enter your Current password, then a New password (at least 8 characters), and Confirm password.
3. Tap Change password.

Passkeys

On devices that support them, the Passkeys card in Account lets you add a passkey so you can sign in with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device PIN - no password to type or steal. Tap 🔑 Set up a passkey and approve the prompt; the sign-in page then offers 🔑 Sign in with a passkey. You can remove a passkey from the same card at any time.

Two-factor authentication (2FA)

1. In Account › Security, find Two-factor authentication (TOTP) and tap Set up 2FA.
2. Add the shown otpauth URI or Secret to your authenticator app (both have a Copy button).
3. Enter the 6-digit code from your app and tap Confirm & enable.

Once on, a code is required at every sign-in. To turn it off, enter a current code and tap Disable 2FA.

Verify your email

In Account › Security, Email verification shows Verified ✓ or Not verified yet. Tap Send verification link and follow the email if you still need to verify.

Budget & data

• Budget tab - set your Budget name, your Pay schedule (Weekly, Bi-weekly, Semi-monthly, or Monthly) and most recent payday, reorder the Auto-Assign priority, replay the guided setup or tour, and (carefully) reset the budget.
• Account tab - change your email address, manage passkeys, your password, and 2FA, sign out, and delete your account.
• Sharing tab - your Plan (see your tier, upgrade, or cancel/resume a paid membership - you keep access to the end of the paid period) and household sharing. See Household & sharing.
• Data tab - see your data stats, download Full data (JSON) for a complete backup or Transactions (CSV) for spreadsheets, and Import from YNAB if you're moving over.
