Getting started with Allot

Allot is a zero-based, envelope-style budget: you give every dollar you have a job. This guide walks you through the setup wizard and shows you around the five main tabs.

Create your budget

When you sign up, Allot drops you into a short setup wizard that builds your first budget so you are not staring at a blank screen.

  1. Go to allot-app.com and choose Sign up. You can sign up with an email and password, or with Continue with Google.
  2. The Setup wizard opens automatically. Follow it top to bottom - it collects the essentials and creates starter categories for you.
  3. Add your first account (for example a checking account) with its current balance. You can add more, and connect a bank, later.
  4. Review the suggested category groups (like Bills, Spending, and Subscriptions) and tweak them to match your life.
  5. Finish the wizard. Allot lands you on the Plan tab, ready to assign money.

The five main tabs

On a phone, Allot has a bottom tab bar with five destinations, plus a More button that reveals everything else. On desktop the same destinations live in the left sidebar. From left to right:

  • Home - your dashboard: a quick overview and shortcuts.
  • Plan - your budget. This is where you assign money to categories (envelopes) and where the app opens by default.
  • Accounts - every account and its balance, plus your assets, liabilities, and net worth.
  • Spending - your transaction register (the route is /register). Add, edit, and review transactions here.
  • Reflect - reports and insights: net worth over time, spending charts, and your savings rate.

Tap More to reach Calendar, Monthly wrap, Forecast, Debt, Subscriptions, Auto-cat rules, Settings, and more.

Your next steps

  1. Assign the money you have on hand to categories - see Budgeting basics.
  2. Connect your bank so transactions flow in automatically - see Connecting your bank.
  3. Set targets on the categories that matter so Allot can tell you what to fund - see Goals & targets.
