Budgeting
Goals & targets
A target tells Allot how much a category needs and when. Once a category has a target, Auto-Assign can fund it for you and Allot can show you whether you're on pace.
Set a target
- On the Plan tab, open the category, then tap 🎯 Edit goal (on mobile, Edit Target).
- In the sentence-style builder, fill in I need [amount].
- Choose a cadence from the dropdown: every month, every week, every 2 weeks, every day, by a date, or on my own schedule.
- Tap Save Target.
Refill vs set-aside
For a monthly cadence, Allot asks what you want to happen next month under Next month I want to:
- Refill up to $X- keeps a set amount on hand each month. Whatever you don't spend rolls toward next month's target, so you only ever top it back up. Best for gas, fun money, dining out.
- Set aside another $X - adds a fresh amount every month and lets it stack, so the pile keeps growing. Best for bills, subscriptions, and saving over time.
Cadences
- every week / every 2 weeks - reveal a starting date; every cycle steps off that date.
- every day - a daily amount.
- by a date - reveals a date picker for a one-time goal (like a vacation fund), with optional yearly inflation (inflate N %/yr) and Auto-roll year.
- on my own schedule - adds , every N days for anything that doesn't fit a standard rhythm.
Read your progress
Once set, the category shows a Target card with:
- Amount to Assign This Month - what this month needs.
- Assigned So Far - what you've put in.
- To Go - what's left, or You've met your target! when done.
Snooze a target
Skipping a category this month (tight paycheck, on vacation)? Snooze it so the bulk-funding tools leave it alone.
- Open the category and tap 💤 Snooze for this month.
- The row stays visible but ghosted, tagged 💤 snoozed. Auto-Assign, Assign Half, and Fund Full all skip it this month.
- Tap 💤 Un-snooze to count it again.
Troubleshooting
Auto-Assign skips a category
It's probably snoozed (look for the 💤 snoozed tag) or has no target. Un-snooze it, or add a target.
My target says I'm behind
The To Go figure is how much more to assign to stay on pace. Assign it from Ready to Assign, or run ⚡ Auto-Assign to catch every category up at once.
